How LINE IDs work

A LINE ID is a unique identifier chosen for an account. It can contain lowercase half-width letters and numbers, periods, hyphens, and underscores. Once an ID has been set, LINE states that it cannot be changed or deleted, so exact spelling is especially important.

Not every LINE account has an ID. An account can operate without one, in which case it will not appear in ID-search results. The LINE ID is distinct from the profile display name, which may be changed and shared by many users.

LINE does not let you open an existing friend’s profile and reveal their LINE ID. The account owner should copy it from their own settings and share it directly.

What the LINE ID lookup can find

The lookup validates the entered ID, checks supported public-facing account signals, and searches for exact public references associated with that identifier. When LINE permits the account to be found by ID, the exact value can be used to reach the corresponding add-friend result.

There is no general public web profile for every LINE user. An account may be valid inside LINE while having no indexable page on the open web. Results should focus on legitimate public context, not scraped personal data.

The lookup does not reveal a phone number, email address, private friend list, Timeline content, messages, call history, or login status.

How to search and add a LINE user

Copy the ID exactly and use LINE’s Add friends area to search by ID. If the expected account does not appear, check punctuation and letter order, then ask whether the owner enabled Allow others to add me by ID.

• Scan a QR code generated by the account owner.
• Open an add-friend link shared directly by that person.
• Add the person through a shared group member profile.
• Use phone-number discovery only where supported and permitted.

LINE may temporarily restrict ID or phone searches after too many attempts. A QR code or direct invitation is more reliable when you already know the person.

How to verify the correct LINE profile

Ask the person to send their ID, QR code, or add-friend link through a channel you already trust. After adding the account, compare the expected display name and profile image, but remember that both can be copied.

For a business, creator, or organization, check whether its official website or established social page publishes the same LINE contact route.

Before making a payment or sharing sensitive information, confirm the request elsewhere. A correct LINE ID identifies an account, not the legal identity or intentions of its operator.

LINE discovery and privacy controls

Account owners can disable Allow others to add me by ID. They can separately control whether people with their phone number may add them. Turning off one discovery route does not necessarily disable every other route.

A previously shared QR code or add-friend URL can be invalidated by regenerating it. Blocking, hiding, and deleting a contact are separate LINE actions.

Share IDs with intended contacts and avoid posting them publicly without permission. Our lookup uses only permitted public data and never attempts to defeat LINE’s safety restrictions.
